Who should train the dog?
The primary trainer should be the person
that can make the daily time committment to work with the dog. ALL well-behaved
family members may attend the classes!
What equipment is needed?
A non-choking collar and a short (3') leash of leather or fabric. We find long nylon leashes attractive, but quite challenging to use!
What if a class is missed?
TRY to pick a course where you can attend most, if not all, of the sessions. If you do miss a lesson, you can request a homework sheet for that week.
What is the best time to train?
Recent studies (and my experience) have shown the best time for training is between 12 and 20 weeks of age. (The next best time is as soon as you can!)
There are so many training methods! How do I know which will be best for me and my dog?
The most modern methods in the world use the idea of motivating and reinforcing the dog, because it's easier, faster, more fun, requires fewer talents (from dog or handler!), and it WORKS! I invite all prospective students to come and observe classes. Ask your veterinarian or other dog care professionals for recommendations for training also. Our training is done indoors. Our facilities are heated/air conditioned and floors are matted for the safety and comfort of you and your pet.
How do I sign up for a class?
Fill out the application, mail along with your course fee and a copy of your dog's shot records. A confirmation letter will be sent to you directly. (Classes tend to fill up 2-4 weeks before they start.)
